The Area Sales Manager serves as the frontline sales leader responsible for driving revenue growth and market penetration within a designated geographic territory for Ultramet Welds' premium flux cored wire and welding consumables. This role combines strategic territory planning with hands-on sales execution, requiring deep technical knowledge of welding processes and strong relationship-building capabilities

Position Summary

Key Responsibilities

Territory Management & Revenue Generation

  • Sales Target Achievement: Drive primary and secondary sales to achieve monthly/quarterly revenue targets within assigned territory

  • Market Penetration: Establish and expand customer base by identifying new prospects in fabrication, structural steel, shipbuilding, oil & gas, and infrastructure verticals

  • Territory Planning: Develop comprehensive territory maps, customer segmentation strategies, and beat plans to maximize market coverage and sales efficiency

  • Pipeline Management: Maintain robust sales pipeline with accurate forecasting and opportunity progression tracking

Customer Relationship Management

  • Key Account Development: Build and nurture strategic relationships with fabricators, contractors, and welding consumable distributors to secure long-term business partnerships

  • Technical Consultation: Provide expert guidance on FCAW applications, demonstrating quantifiable benefits including improved deposition rates, arc stability, and cost efficiency

  • Customer Education: Conduct product demonstrations, technical presentations, and training sessions showcasing Ultramet's superior flux cored wire performance

  • After-Sales Support: Ensure customer satisfaction through responsive service, technical troubleshooting, and continuous engagement

Market Intelligence & Strategy Execution

  • Competitive Analysis: Monitor competitor activities, pricing strategies, and market positioning to identify opportunities and threats

  • Market Feedback: Gather customer insights, application requirements, and industry trends to inform product development and marketing strategies

  • Channel Development: Establish and manage distributor relationships, ensuring optimal product availability and market reach

  • Brand Building: Execute local marketing initiatives, and build Ultramet's brand

Required Qualifications

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgy, or related technical field

  • 5-8 years of B2B industrial sales experience with focus on welding equipment/consumables

  • Proven track record of managing territories with revenue responsibility

Technical Competencies

  • Welding Expertise: Comprehensive knowledge of FCAW, GMAW, SMAW processes and applications

  • Product Knowledge: Understanding of flux cored wire specifications, metallurgy, and performance characteristics

  • Application Engineering: Ability to recommend optimal welding solutions based on customer requirements and project specifications

  • Quality Standards: Familiarity with AWS welding codes, industry specifications, and quality assurance protocols

  • Sales Excellence: Consultative selling, negotiation, and closing skills with complex B2B sales cycles

  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication in English and regional languages
