Typical Chemical Composition of 308LT1-1 Weld Metal

The undiluted weld metal chemistry of 308LT1-1 FCAW wire is optimized for corrosion resistance and mechanical stability. Typical composition includes approximately 0.03% Carbon, 1.80% Manganese, 0.50% Silicon, 19.50% Chromium, and 10.20% Nickel.

This balanced austenitic stainless steel chemistry provides excellent resistance to corrosion, oxidation, and wear, along with stable microstructure and crack resistance.

Mechanical Properties of 308LT1-1 Flux Cored Welding Wire

In the as-welded condition, 308LT1-1 welding wire produces weld metal with a typical ultimate tensile strength of around 570 MPa and a yield strength of approximately 420 MPa at 0.2% offset. The weld metal exhibits good elongation of about 28% and maintains reliable impact toughness at room temperature, ensuring durability under service conditions.

These properties make the wire suitable for pressure-containing and load-bearing stainless steel structures.

Recommended Welding Parameters for 308LT1-1 FCAW Wire

The 308LT1-1 flux cored welding wire is available in 1.2 mm and 1.6 mm diameters. The recommended amperage range is approximately 130 to 280 amperes for 1.2 mm wire and 200 to 360 amperes for 1.6 mm wire. Welding should be performed using DCEP (Electrode Positive).

This wire is suitable for welding with COâ‚‚ or Argon-COâ‚‚ mixed shielding gas. When using mixed shielding gas, it is recommended to reduce the voltage by 1 to 2 volts to achieve optimal arc stability and bead profile.
